Albany State’s Stephan Pierre and James Hawkins to play in HBCU Legacy Bowl

Albany State linebacker Stephan Pierre and defensive back James Hawkins were selected to play in the 2023 HBCU Legacy Bowl. After winning the SIAC MVP and Defensive Player of the Year last season, Pierre followed that up with SIAC All-Conference First Team season. The Tallahassee, Florida product recorded 84 total tackles ( 58 solo), 9 tackles for loss, 5 sacks, 1 forced fumble and a 1 fumble recovery. Founded in 1881, Morris Brown has been a pillar amongst HBCUs. However recent history has not been kind to the Wolverines. Back in 2002, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools stripped Morris Brown of its accreditation after a former president and financial aid director were found to have misappropriated Department of Education funds. Bereft of accreditation, MBC lost access to federal funds, which included student loans and Pell Grants. Most of the 2,000 students enrolled at the time, left to seek other institutions. This upcoming Nike Dunk HIgh will be part of a bloated line up of the classic silhouette in 2023. It sports a black leather foundational layer overlaid with that of psychic purple in the usual locations – toe , eye rows, wrapping the heel and flanking the ankle.
