Nike aids Chinese Goverment in the Confiscation of $87 million in Counterfeit Kicks

Police in Anhui (China) recently busted that country’s largest case of sneakers. The seized shoes, which numbered over 500,000 pair, were intended to be shipped to Asia and the Middle East. Although made of substandard materials, the sneakers were still valued at over $87 million. In December 2015 Anhui police received reports from Nike Sports China which indicated they had located a significant number of counterfeit shoes that looked like one of their branded products in Middle Eastern countries. Stupid Things People Do For Sneakers: Portland man stole over 800 pairs of Nikes from Outlet

A 52-year-old Portland, Oregon man is accused of stealing over $5,000 of sneakers from the Northeast Portland Nike Outlet. Kevin Millage was arrested as a suspects in thefts from the store after detectives reviewed footage from the store’s video surveillance system.  According to court documents, Millage admitted to detectives that he is a drug addict and that he pilfered the shoes in order to sell them to obtain drugs. We hit the ground running with the ordeal of Cortney Slater.  A Maryland truck driver pled guilty to pilfering more than $19,000 worth of shoes.  According to reporting by WMAR in Baltimore, in July 2016 a New Penn Motor Express employee saw an entire pallet of New Balance sneakers were missing. Stupid Things People Do For Sneakers: Hartford man arrested for trying to steal $265 worth of Nikes from Kohl’s

According to police, a Hartford, Connecticut man now faces multiple charges after he attempted to steal $265 worth of Nike basketball shoes from Kohl’s. Around 2 p.m. Monday February 20, police responded to the retailer for a report of a shoplifter. A man, Jorge Bermudez-Martinez, 25, was observed concealing sneakers under his sweatshirt. According to a police report, he was taken into custody by police as he left the store. 70,000 pair of Counterfeit Kicks Seized in Thailand

As reported by the Bangkok Post, Customs officials in Thailand seized counterfeit shoes worth at least an estimated 100 million baht (2856326.93 USD) during a raid in the Muang district of Samut Prakan in Thailand.  According to Customs Department director-general Kulit Sombatsiri, the building was used as a warehouse to store 70,000 pair of sneakers, which included “Nikes”, “Adidas”, “Converse”, and “Onitsuka Tiger”.  No one was in the building during the execution of the raid.  The media was shown all of the shoes Friday, prior to being turned over to…

The 19-year old Jacksonville, Florida teen was accused of robbing a Facebook sneaker seller at gunpoint of a pair of Air Jordans. Stupid Things People Do For Sneakers: Young Man Killed Over Kicks

Darrius Flournoy has become the latest unnecessary casualty of sneaker related violence. The 22-year old was shot by an acquaintance, 20-year-old Ja’Corrie Rogers, over a dispute surrounding shoes the two swapped. Police alleged that at approximately 6:45 p.m., Rogers pulled out a handgun and shot Flournoy multiple times. Neighbors said that at least five shots were heard.
