Albany State softball hits the road for three against Benedict

The Albany State softball team ( 30-6, 14-2 SIAC) heads to Columbia, SC for their last road trip of the regular season, as they will take on the Tigers of Benedict (26-15, 10-5, SIAC) in a three-game set over the weekend. A doubleheader is scheduled for Saturday, April 23, with the first pitch for Game 1 set for 1:00 pm EST and Game 2 scheduled to commence at 3:00 pm. Sunday’s series ender gets going at 3:00 PM EST. Albany State splits first two with Fort Valley

The Golden Rams softball team split with the Fort Valley State University Wildcats on Saturday, April 9.  The Golden Rams are now 29-4 (13-2 in the SIAC) while the Wildcats are 10-22 (3-11 in the SIAC). In game #1, the Golden Rams lost (6-5).  The Golden Rams led 5-2 going into the bottom of the 7th inning.  But, the Wildcats exploded for 4 runs in the inning to upset the Golden Rams.  Alera Buie scored when Hailey Bracey singled in the bottom of the 7th inning to win the game for the Wildcats.  Glory Seay hit a…

Olivia Townsend (Benedict) was named Player of the Week, while Alexandra Ballester (Spring Hill) earned Pitcher of the Week honors. In their series with Allen University, the Albany State offense has been quite lively, generating 23 runs through the first two games. The Golden Rams pitching has been getting it done in their own right, not surrendering a single run and only allowing four Yellow Jacket hits over the two games. Albany State softball extended their win streak to 13 after a dominating sweep of Allen University, winning the games by a combined 23-0 ( 12-0 in Game 1 and 11-0 in Game 2). Game 1 Albany State got right to work in the first inning scoring ten runs and essentially putting the game out of reach from that point forward.
