WNBA Says Fans Should Have Been Allowed to Wear Shirts About Transgender Athlete Debate

The WNBA acknowledged Monday that security personnel acted improperly after asking at least three fans to cover shirts displaying messages about transgender women participating in women’s sports during Sunday’s game between the Indiana Fever and the Atlanta Dream in Atlanta.  In a statement released Monday, the league said the fans should have been permitted to wear the shirts. “The WNBA is aware of interactions at Sunday’s game in Atlanta in which fans were asked by league security to cover their shirts. WNBA Suspends Seattle Storm Co-Owner Celeste Keaton Five Home Games Following Incident With Sophie Cunningham Supporters

The WNBA has suspended Seattle Storm minority co-owner Celeste Keaton from attending the team’s next five home games after an incident involving fans supporting Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham during Tuesday night’s game in Seattle.  According to multiple reports, Keaton allegedly confronted two teenage fans who were holding signs supporting Cunningham, using profanity during the exchange.
