Albany State defeats Shorter 42-14

The Albany State Golden Rams bounced back from their loss against FAMU last week with a 42-20 victory over, Shorter University. The 42 points the Rams scored was more than they put up in their first two games combined. For the first time since 2015 Morgan State was able to give their fans something to cheer about by getting a win in their home opener. Behind a strong defensive effort and an offense that got in gea for the first time this season, Morgan State was able to get their fists win of the season, 24-9, over Sacred Heart. Rams volleyball drop 3 at Warhawk Invitational

The Albany State women’s volleyball took part in the 2022 Warhawk Invitational, which was held September 9-10 in Montgomery, Alabama. In their opening match ASU faced off against the Univers of West Alabama, losing in three sets,( 25-21, 25-17, 26-24) . In a losing effort, Sydney Melton lead the Golden Rams with a kills, Hailey Elyicio had 5 aces, Molly Wilson had a team-high 15 assist, and Mary Peterson had 4 blocks. Courtesy of the Southwestern Athletic Conference: The Southwestern Athletic Conference has named Grambling State’s Quaterius Hawkins along with Jackson State’s Nyles Gaddy, Alejandro Mata, and Sy’veon Wilkerson its SWAC Football Players of the Week for their outstanding performances during games played this past week of competition. Offensive- Hawkins put on a showcase in the second quarter of Grambling State’s game versus Northwestern State on Saturday.  He contributed touchdown passes of 83 yards, 20 yards and 71 yards as he threw for 292 yards in the first half.
