Courtesy of Dr. Earnest Brown, Albany State Athletics The Albany State Golden Rams softball team was swept by the Edward Waters Tigers in a 3-game series held in Albany on March 19-20.  With the loss on Monday afternoon, the Golden Rams are now (16-10) overall and (9-4) in the SIAC.  The Tigers improved to (22-4) overall and (8-2) in the SIAC.  The game was scoreless until Tiana McFarland hit a single to right field to score Morgan Brown.  McFarland’s hit gave the Golden Rams a (1-0) lead entering the bottom of…

Albany State loses to Alabama State in exhibition matchup

Albany State Softball opens season tomorrow

2023 Albany State Softball season preview

Courtesy of Albany State Athletics In 2022, Albany State Softball had a tremendous season as they finished with a (35-9) overall record as well as the SIAC Eastern Division Champions.   According to the Black Sports Network, the Golden Rams finished with the most wins of any HBCU on any level in the country. The Golden Rams feature several players that received accolades from the 2022 season.  Madison Hurt finished as the number #7 leading hitter in the country with a batting average of .467.  Morgan Brown was named SIAC Freshman of the year. …

Albany State Softball takes Eastern Division crown

Via Dr. Earnest Brown, Albany State Athletics The Golden Rams softball team won two out of three games against the Benedict College Tigers in their final series of the regular season.  As a result, the Golden Rams finish #1 in the Eastern Division of the SIAC.  The Golden Rams improved to 32-7 (16-3 in the SIAC) while the Tigers are 27-17 (11-7 in the SIAC).   In game 1, the Tigers defeated the Golden Rams 12-4.  The Tigers jumped out to a (3-0) lead after the 1st inning.  But, McLeod homered in…

The Albany State softball team ( 30-6, 14-2 SIAC) heads to Columbia, SC for their last road trip of the regular season, as they will take on the Tigers of Benedict (26-15, 10-5, SIAC) in a three-game set over the weekend. The Golden Rams softball team split with the Fort Valley State University Wildcats on Saturday, April 9.  The Golden Rams are now 29-4 (13-2 in the SIAC) while the Wildcats are 10-22 (3-11 in the SIAC). In game #1, the Golden Rams lost (6-5).  The Golden Rams led 5-2 going into the bottom of the 7th inning.  But, the Wildcats exploded for 4 runs in the inning to upset the Golden Rams.  Alera Buie scored when Hailey Bracey singled in the bottom of the 7th inning to win the game for the Wildcats.  Glory Seay hit a…
