Albany State Basketball heads to SC for key SIAC games

The Albany State University Men’s and Women’s basketball teams both are hitting the road for pair games over the next several days. ASU is heading to Columbia, SC to take on the Tigers of Benedict on Thursday. They will follow that up with a game against Allen University on February 19. Albany State swept in basketball doubleheader

Courtesy Dr. Earnest Brown , ASU Athletics The Albany State Golden Rams were swept by the Clark-Atlanta Panthers on Monday at the ASU East Campus.   In the women’s game, the Panthers won 62-61.  The Panthers jumped out to a 20-14 lead at the end of the 1st quarter.  But, the Golden Rams outscored the Panthers 18-6 in the 2nd quarter.  At the half, the Golden Rams led 32-26. Bowie State’s Ross and Bobo named to Don Hansen All-America Teams

Defensive lineman Jonathan Ross was named to Don Hansen All-America First Team and offensive lineman Quinton Bobo was named to the Don Hansen All-America Second Team. Harris Stowe State University receives bomb threat

St. Louis, Missouri’s Harris-Stowe State University is the latest HBCU to be the target of a bomb threat Tuesday morning. According to a statement issued by the University, St. Louis Metropolitan Police as well as the FBI have been contacted and are investigating. Authorities are conducting a search of all campus facilities. Classes and university operations, which also include the chow hall have been suspended. (7News) — A shelter in place has been issued for students and staff at Bowie State University due to a bomb threat Monday.  CNN is reporting that at least six Historically Black Colleges and Universities have received bomb threats launching police investigations. From the Southwestern Athletic Conference: BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference has named Alcorn State’s Felix Harper and Keyron Kinsler along with Texas Southern’s Richard Garcia III and Andrew Body its SWAC Football Players of the Week for their outstanding performances during games played this past week of competition.
